GNLA slams Deborah
Tura, July 17: The statement of social welfare minister Deborah Marak on the need to hold talks with the GNLA has been viewed by the outfit as "pre-planned and far-fetched conspiracy".
Marak had made the statement while speaking to the media in Shillong on Tuesday.
The outfit, in a Facebook post, said: "We feel that it is a trap to trick the GNLA by the government. The statement was all well established and comprehending realising that GNLA will lay a counter attack on police personnel for killing Savio Marak."
Lambasting the move of the police to hunt them down, the outfit said, "We are aware of this conspiracy and hidden methodology of the police and the government."
Both Delhi and Meghalaya have made it clear that they would not hold talks with the outfit.
The minister had opined that talks with the GNLA would pave way for other splinter groups to follow suit.
"The situation in Garo hills is turning from bad to worse. I always believe in dialogue; and the best way to end violence is through talks," she had said.
