Cong rejects MLAs' replies
Kohima, July 10: The Congress high command has rejected the replies of showcause notices by eight lawmakers who have joined the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government where the BJP is also an alliance partner.
A release received here this evening from AICC member and former minister V. Narayanasamy said the party high command has rejected the replies of showcause notices and warned of further disciplinary action.
Nagaland PCC president K. Therie said the party high command was likely to issue a whip to the eight disobedient MLAs during the forthcoming budget session, which begins from July 21.
He said the eight MLAs could even face disqualification from the Assembly if they defy the whip.
Narayanasamy said after BJP MLAs were inducted on April 27 last, he had called on S.C. Jamir, the then president of PCC and conveyed party president Sonia Gandhi's directive not to join the DAN government and also directed the newly appointed PCC president Therie to make known the stand of the party to the people and also restrain Congress MLAs from joining the government.
"Therefore, they have wilfully violated the directives of the AICC," he said.
The former minister said the conduct of the MLAs is sufficient evidence that they have given up their party allegiance and membership voluntarily.
