January 23 was a holiday but instead of taking their kids to the mall, some parents chose to bring them to Victoria Memorial — to jump, to shout and to learn, with Nandana Dev Sen. The occasion was a two-day Children’s Literary Meet organised from Sunday, partnered by TTIS.

The actress, writer and child rights activist involved her kiddie audience in a host of activities that needed thought as well as a lot of ‘monkeying’ around. She then settled them down and along with mum Nabaneeta Dev Sen and little friend Tara (both in picture left), read out her new bilingual children’s book, Not Yet!. In Bengali, it’s titled Ekkhuni Na!, and it’s about a little girl who just doesn’t want to go to bed.

“This book was inspired by my little niece, Hiya, who doesn’t like to go to sleep on time. As her bedtime approaches, she can be found hiding in various places,” said Nandana. Not Yet! has been published in nine languages simultaneously — English, Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam. Pictures: Pabitra Das
