The makers of Kangana Ranaut-starrer Manikarnika are pushing for an August release, having sorted out problems with the VFX that plagued production.

They want to release the film, based on the life of  Rani Lakshmibai, around Independence Day to take advantage of the patriotic fervour. But they also want to avoid a clash with other I-Day movies. “So, we have decided on August 3,” said Nishant Pitti, one of the producers.

Pitti also confirmed that the delay in the film’s release was because of hiccups with the 3D version of the film. “We want the film to be in 3D as well because we want a grand release in China.,” added Pitti. The China release, would take place at a later date.

In case of an August 3 release, it could clash with Yash Raj’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, starring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra .
