Saranya Sarkar, a 15-year-old student of Bedibhawan Rabitirtha Vidyalaya, Nadia, is enchanting listeners across India with the soulful melodies of his bansuri (flute). A prodigious talent in Hindustani classical music, Saranya blends emotional depth with technical precision, making waves on both competition stages and classical music platforms. Trained initially by Sri Uday Dey, Saranya now hones his craft under the guidance of Pandit Sandipan Samajpati in vocals and Pandit Parimal Chakraborty in tabla. In 2023 alone, Saranya bagged some of the most prestigious accolades in the classical music circuit. He was awarded the CCRT Scholarship for Hindustani Instrumental Music (Flute), a recognition given by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training to outstanding young artists. He also claimed the first prize at the All India Music and Dance Competition by Kajal Rekha Musical Foundation and Taalsen Academy, first place in the Akhil Bharatiya Sangeet Pratiyogita in Yamunanagar, and stood second at the Sangeet Piyasi Competition. His victories extend further—winner at Vishvas Sangeet Samiti, and first place in the 13th All India Inter-School Competition in the solo flute category. His journey started gaining momentum in 2022 when he won Jhankriti, a national-level music competition hosted by the World Forum for Art and Culture in association with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. With every note, Saranya Sarkar not only showcases his extraordinary talent but also pays homage to the timeless traditions of Indian classical music.
