It is said that humans should be looking for options to settle in outer space, because there will come a time when our Sun will run out of fuel, and the solar system as we know it, will cease to exist. With this idea in mind, the International Space Settlement Design Competition was instituted. Pranav, a social entrepreneur from Kolkata, qualified for and was elected the vice-president of marketing at both the Asian Regional Space Settlement Design Competition as well as the International Space Settlement Design Competition. Pranav Ashar is 17 year old and has aspired to be a social entrepreneur for as long as he can remember. If you’re wondering who is a social entrepreneur, it is a phrase used to describe such people who wanting to create positive impact on society through their start-ups and innovations. And Pranav’s journey to create positive impact didn’t just start with the Space Settlement Design Competition. Pranav has been an active participant in the Model United Nations (MUN), which he uses as a stage to discuss and share his ideas on social improvement. At Model UN, he has conducted workshops and simulations, and has won distinctions for two years in a row. Besides worrying about society and humanity at large, Pranav is also focussed on his entrepreneurial journey. He is a student of commerce at Lakshmipat Singhania Academy and is interested in business. He recently excelled at the Young Tycoons Business Challenge, an impactful and novel business plan competition for high school students, started in2021. He also won a cash prize and a scholarship for his business proposal at the Vijaybhoomi University Live from Lockdown. Besides being a social entrepreneur, Pranav is also interested in Basketball. And even though he hasn’t pursued it professionally, he has won himself and his team quite a few accolades through his performance on the court.
