Mrittika Mallick, a class 9 student at Binodini Girls High School, Kolkata is acutely aware of the fact that there has never been a woman Grand Master in chess from Eastern India. But she aspires to fill this very gap in the future. With a slew of wins and certificates in the under-13 girls division of the Asian Schools Chess Championship, under her belt, Mrittika has gone on to the women’s matches at the National level. With her larger dream in her eyes, Mrittika wishes to take part in as many tournaments as she can and inch closer and close to the Grand Master title in the future. With a rating of 1867, she secured third place in the Asian Youth Championships 2022 held in Bali, Indonesia. Apart from this, she has participated in the All India Chess Federation (National Sub Junior U-16 Chess championship 2022) finishing in the 2nd position and All India Chess Federation (National Under 14 Girls Chess Championship 2022) finishing in the 1st position.
