t2 gets a caffeine kick at 8th day cafe & bakery’s new outlet

8th Day Cafe & Bakery, the three-and-a-half-year-old coffee stop on West Range (opposite Alliance Francaise du Bengale) is spreading the ‘love’. This time near Vivekananda Park. If you are greeted by the predominant theme — ‘love’ doodled on the yellow wall — the 40-seater spread across 800sq ft instantly gives you a cosy feel. Adding to the warmth are the yellow and natural lights.

“I had seen this property even before I opened my first outlet but then I went ahead and finalised the West Range one. Over the years we had a lot of people from south Calcutta who would come and request us to open an outlet in this part of the city. So, I revisited this location and luckily, it wasn’t occupied!” said Grant Walsh, co-owner along with Kelly Dwyer. What made us go ‘yay’ are the t2 stories framed on the wall!

Nitro Coffee: If you like cold brews, then you must recharge with this chilled creamy beverage, laced with nitrogen. Just look at the texture and the colour of this one! Rs 179
This German coffee-roaster from Bangalore is a highlight. The coffee beans, poured through a funnel, accumulate in the drum. The roasting lasts for 20 minutes, after which the beans are sieved again. The result? Perfectly roasted beans that will give you the most aromatic coffee.
Oreo Shake: Made with Oreo cookies, lots of vanilla ice cream and milk, this one is thick and not too sweet. Rs 199
Shredded Chicken Parmesan Sandwich: This new addition to the menu has shredded chicken, thyme, oregano, basil, Parmesan and Cheddar... enough reasons to make you happy! Rs 199
Southwest Hummus Wrap: A fave of Kelly Dwyer, this one is a healthy bite with hummus, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, onion and bean salsa all rolled up in spinach tortilla. Rs 169
Just like it’s previous outlet, this too has a merchandise section. While you can shop for earrings and bags, the Calcutta-themed magnets and keychains are the new eye-catchers.
