City-based Pincon Spirit Limited has posted an 88.88 per cent jump in its first-quarter net profit on account of a rising revenue through the sale of liquor.

Calcutta, Aug. 8: City-based Pincon Spirit Limited has posted an 88.88 per cent jump in its first-quarter net profit on account of a rising revenue through the sale of liquor.

The company's net profit in the reporting quarter grew to Rs 5.67 crore from Rs 3 crore a year ago.

Total revenue during the quarter under review stood at Rs 230.89 crore compared with Rs 129.26 crore a year ago, registering a growth of 78.62 per cent.

Earnings from the liquor business constituted 64 per cent of the total revenue earned during the quarter and it grew 14.63 per cent over the year-ago period.

The company, which has seen a growing demand for the country spirit in Bengal, is now looking to invest Rs 400 crore to expand in the southern and northern parts of the country and increase its production capacity.

It is also looking to raise Rs 100 crore through non-convertible debentures.
