Bail for duo

Patna: A single-judge high court bench of Justice Birendra Kumar on Friday granted bail to former Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad and secretary Hariharnath Jha in the answersheet tender scam.

But Lalkeshwar will remain in jail since his bail application is pending in the high court in the toppers scam. The court at the same time rejected the bail plea of then BSEB storekeeper Vikas Kumar.

Shot dead

Patna: Criminals shot dead Parmatma Ramani at Belaur Bangla village in Bhojpur district on Friday. The reason is yet to be ascertained.


Patna: Wholesale cloth traders here will keep their shops shut on Saturday to protest lathicharge on Surat traders demonstrating against GST. They will stage a dharna at Sabzibagh.


Patna: The education department convened a meeting of vice-chancellors, registrars and finance officers, chaired by principal education secretary R.K. Mahajan, additional education secretary K. Senthil Kumar and VCs, registrars and finance officers of all 10 universities.


Biharsharif: Two members of an inter-district gang, Feku Yadav and Hira Gope, were arrested from Chiksaura in Nalanda district on Friday and looted articles seized from their possession.
