Stress on proper use of data

Guwahati, March 6: A regional workshop on micro data dissemination and creation of data centre, organised jointly by the ministry of statistics and programme implementation (MoSPI) and the state planning and development department here today stressed the need for proper utilisation of data for the development of the state and the region.

Director of the computer centre in MoSPI, S.L. Bodat, said, "The objective of this workshop is to sensitise the officers of the state government on the usage of International Household Survey Network toolkit to process largescale survey samples and census data and to create a robust documentation in an international standard format while setting up the data centre."

"The data is collected and stored by using a software provided by the World Bank. For the past three years, we have compiled a lot of micro data and uploaded them to our website where it can be accessed by anybody," he said.
