Rahul relief

New Delhi, May 7: The Supreme Court today stayed a defamation suit filed against Rahul Gandhi by an RSS supporter for allegedly linking Mahatma Gandhi's assassin to the Sangh.

The court sought the Centre's response on Rahul's plea for quashing of IPC sections 499 and 500, under which offenders can be jailed for two years. Rahul submitted that the sections violated fundamental rights of freedom of expression and speech.
