Assam cops assaulted

Shillong, Sept. 4: Assam police personnel allegedly assaulted the staff of a toll gate along the Shillong bypass route yesterday.

Around 9.15am, two pilot cars, one a Scorpio and the other a Bolero, bearing Assam registration numbers, were on their way to Jowai in West Jaintia Hills from Guwahati.

Meghalaya police today said that on reaching a toll gate at Mawkhanu, which is along the Shillong bypass road under the East Khasi Hills district, Assam police personnel, including the ones in plain-clothes, got down from the Bolero vehicle and assaulted the toll gate staff.
