Everest scale summit with win

Hailakandi, Aug. 28: Everest Club lifted the trophy of Lakhipur District Sports Association first division football tournament in Cachar district, edging past Rising Club 6-5 via tie-breaker in the final at Pailapool Nehru Higher Secondary School ground recently.

The match ended 2-2 at the end of the stipulated time.

Rising took the lead in the ninth minute through a penalty conversion by Riju Rongmei. It was awarded for a dangerous tackle by Everest player Lalremsang Hmar.

The second goal came from Brother Hmar in the 25th minute.

Everest cut the lead through a penalty conversion, awarded for a dangerous tackle by Jaibung Hmar of Rising, by Lalrem Hmar in the 47th minute, while J. Hmar equalised in the 52nd minute.

In the penalty shootout, Nathaniel Hmar, Bolte Hmar, Kiya Hmar and Ramlel Hmar scored for Everest Club while Emanuel Hmar, Lalremsang and Either Hmar scored for Rising Club.

Rising goalkeeper Jobs Hmar was adjudged the Man of the Final. Bolte Hmar was awarded with the Man of the Tournament trophy and Rabinson Hmar of Everest and Uday Koiri of Dewan TE Youth Club were adjudged the best defender and goalkeeper respectively.
