Dharmendra bags top spot

Imphal, Aug. 25: Paddler Th. Dharmendra Singh claimed the menís singles title of the 3rd State Open Ranking Table Tennis Championship 2014 at DM College indoor stadium, Imphal, today, smashing his opponent Ksh. Vikash.

In the menís doubles match, Dharmendra Singh paired up with Ksh. Vikash to post a hard-earned victory against Kh. Bantakumar and N. Bipin for the championís title.

In the youth boysí singles final, Kh. Basantakumar Singh beat Y. Boy Singh to romp home with the championís trophy. Kh. Basantakumar Singh maintained his good form and went on to claim the junior boysí title, overcoming K. Rohit.

However, K. Rohit bounced back in the sub-junior boysí singles event, as he went on to capture the title, beating K. Kenao.

In the cadet boysí singles, E. Thomas fought his way to beat Y. Khellendrajit for the championís title.

The junior girlsí singles final saw I. Monalisha Devi face some tough resistance from M. Bindiya Devi but went on to win the title.

Super division league: United Progressive Adults Association and XI Star Sporting Union share the top slot with 12 points each in the Maharajkumar Ghanendrajit Super Division League 2014 at the artificial turf, Khuman Lampak sports complex.

Today, Eastern Sporting Union drubbed Citizen Club by 7-0 goals.

In another match, Progressive Youth Association held United Progressive Adults Association to a 1-1 draw, to share a point each.

Kabaddi: The Thoubal College womenís team won the Manipur University Inter-College Kabadi Tournament 2014-15 held at Thoubal College.

In the womenís category, Thoubal College beat Biramangol College.

In the menís section, Mayai Lambi beat Thoubal College for the championís title.

School soccer: St Francis School eased past Bal Bharti School 2-0 in the inaugural match of the Kamal Chetry under-16 Inter-School Football Tournament, organised by the Guwahati Young Star Football Coaching Centre, at Judges Field today, writes our staff reporter from Guwahati.
