United beat Rising

Imphal, Aug 20: United Pukhao Sporting Association rode A.K. Blessingsonís hattrick to thrash lacklustre Rising Athletic Union by 4-1 goals in the M. Ibobi Memorial First Division Football League, 2014 on artificial turf, Khuman Lampak sports complex here today.

Rising Athletic lacked co-ordination but somehow managed to chip in with a consolation goal.

They had a chance to bridge the gap, but wasted a penalty shot as well.

United Pukhao started with a bang, with K. Inao scoring his teamís first goal in the first minute of play. Dominating the proceedings, United Pukhao struck two quick goals through A.K. Blessingson in the 26th minute and 29th minute to post 3-0 goals in the first of half of play.

Making matters worse for Rising Athletic, Blessingson came up with his third goal in the 77th minute with his sitting pretty with a 4-0 lead.

Rising Athletic had a chance from a penalty but Sanjoy Sangkhil made a mess of it shooting over the horizontal bar. He, however, made amends for his mistake as he fetched his teamís only goal in the 78th minute. But it was too little too late.

United Pukhao player K. Inao got a yellow card in the match.

In another match, DOAK Yairipok blanked NESU Porompat 5-0.

Kh. Naoba Meitei struck two goals while Kh. James, N. Binodkumar and Ch. Ibomcha fetched a goal each. Scorers Inao and James got a yellow card.

Heavy downpour played spoilsport as the matches of the RG Baruah Guwahati Sports Association Super Division Football League and the Jibeswar Goswami GSA A Division Football League had to be deferred to Thursday because of unplayable ground conditions, writes our correspondent from Guwahati.

Chess AGM: The annual general meeting of All Assam Chess Association will be held here on August 23.

A new executive committee for the term 2014-17 will be constituted in the meeting.
