Balwant may get a start

Calcutta: Mohun Bagan technical director Subhas Bhowmick is planning to use his frontliners on rotation. Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday, the eve of the team’s CFL Championship Round match against Kalighat MS, Bhowmick stated: “I have three good frontliners in CS Sabeeth, Balwant Singh and Jeje Lalpekhlua. I have to give enough match-time to get them into the groove. So on Wednesday, I may start with Balwant.”

Balwant, under Bhowmick, was a revelation for Churchill Brothers last season. Against Police AC in their last match, he came in as a substitute for Pierre Boya six minutes after the hour-mark. “There will be more changes to the side which played on Sunday, but I am yet to decide on the final eleven,” Bhowmick said.

Bhowmick did not sound too worried about the fact that Mohun Bagan would be playing their matches on the artificial turf at the Salt Lake stadium.

“I am not at all worried. Our team is very fit and we had a solid pre-season. There is no need to lose sleep over playing at the Salt Lake stadium.”
