3 killed in TMC feud

Burdwan, Aug. 14: Three Trinamul workers were killed today in a Burdwan village in what party sources said was the fallout of a factional feud.

According to Trinamul insiders, old-timers and those who have switched over from the CPM after the Lok Sabha polls are divided over implementation of development projects in Manteswar.

Around 8.30am, brothers Kasem and Gopal Sheikh were hacked to death allegedly by followers of Phatik Sheikh, who joined the ruling party recently. Phatik was later shot dead in a retaliatory attack.

District police chief S.M.H. Meerza said eight persons had been arrested.
