Jaswant still critical: Doctors

Jaswant Singh

New Delhi, Aug. 10 (PTI): Jaswant Singh’s condition remains grave, a defence ministry spokesperson said today, citing reports from an army hospital where the former BJP leader is being treated for head injuries suffered in a fall at home.

The 76-year-old former defence minister is in coma and continues to be on life support in the ICU of the Army Research and Referral Hospital here, the spokesperson said.

Jaswant was admitted to the hospital on Friday and later operated upon for the head injury. His supporters in home state Rajasthan started a yagna today for his recovery.

Singh, also external affairs and finance minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA regime, was expelled from the BJP after he decided to contest this year’s Lok Sabha polls as an Independent from Barmer on being denied a party ticket.
