Departing from the trend of launching a product in the metros, WD (Western Digital), a company manufacturing digital storage devices, launched WD Red, a range of products for network-attached storage, in Ranchi on August 5. Justifying the launch in Jharkhand’s capital, Subroto Das, WD director for India and South Asia, said the state had “remarkable industrial and mining activities” and educational institutions and medical facilities that needed storage capacity for huge data. “Considering that non-metros equally patronise our products, we had earlier launched WD Green, a range of products for capacity storage, in Kanpur,” he added. WD has internal and external devices like WD Blue (everyday storage), WD Green (bulk storage) and WD Purple (video surveillance application) to cater to the needs of individuals and industries. Expo Utsav 2014

The Ranchi branch of Junior Chamber International (JCI) will host the six-day annual trade fair, Expo Utsav 2014, at Morabadi Ground during September 18-23. “This will be a bigger and better managed Expo Utsav this time,” said Prabhash Jain, chief coordinator. Six hangars with some 400 stalls will display items ranging from electronic to automobile, home décor to healthcare, clothes to kitchenware. A pink hangar will be meant only for lady entrepreneurs. “Parking and security will be classy,” said JCI spokesperson Siddharth Chaudhary
