Kidnap gang arrested

Bokaro, Aug. 9: Police have arrested four sharpshooters for trying to kidnap a businessman at gunpoint from Sector XII in Bokaro steel city yesterday.

Manoj Pandey, Santosh Kumar Ravi, alias Anugrah, Narayan and Shashi Kant are all residents of the steel town and have criminal background. Two countrymade pistols and two motorcycles have been found on them.

Police are now on the lookout for an arm supplier, Pintu Kumar Singh, who has links with the gang.

Presenting the arrested before the media today, Bokaro SP Jitendra Singh said: “They tried to kidnap a businessman, Ramu Bhai, from his shop near Charan Singh Chowk in broad daylight yesterday afternoon. But several people assembled near the shop and challenged the criminals. Some even pelted stones at them, prompting them to flee on bikes. By that time, a patrol police dashed to the spot and caught them. After interrogations, we arrested them today.”

The police officer added that they had launched searches for Pintu, who belongs to Sector VI.

“The criminals have close connection with this man,” he added.
