6 ducks & a record!

Cheteshwar Pujara made the first duck of his career in 39 Test innings. It was his sixth in all first-class cricket. It was also his first duck in six years. His last duck came in November 2008 in a Ranji Trophy game for Saurashtra against Gujarat. He was then dismissed for a golden duck!

For the first time in his Test career Mahendra Singh Dhoni has three 50-plus scores in an ‘away’ Test series. He had two 50-plus scores during the 2007 & 2011 series in England & then during the 2009 series in NZ.

The six ducks in the same innings is the most for India in Tests and it equals the dubious Test record held by three other teams, namely Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh.

The full list is as follows:

Pak vs WI at Karachi, 1980

SA vs Ind at Ahmedabad, 1996

Bangla vs WI at Dhaka, 2002

Ind vs Eng at Manchester, 2014

Alastair Cook now has 24 catches off James Anderson which is now the most successful fielder/bowler combination for England in Tests. The pair went past the previous best of 22 catches for England, by Ian Botham off Bob Willis.

With both Pankaj Singh and Varun Aaron appearing in their 2nd Test match, now only 47 players have appeared in a solitary Test match for India.

The last time India played a Test match at Old Trafford, Sachin Tendulkar made his maiden Test 100 at 17 years & 112 days.

The last time India’s first 4 wickets fell on the same score was vs England at Leeds in 1952 (0/4). On the first day India lost four wickets with score at 8.
