NPP seeks NIA probe into nexus

Shillong, Aug. 7: The National People’s Party (NPP) today asked Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma to initiate an NIA probe into the allegation that the ANVC (B) has a nexus with Pakistan’s ISI.

“We are very concerned with the statement made by the chief minister regarding the links between the ANVC (B) and the ISI. The statement, which is extremely serious in nature, bears significance since it is coming from the executive head of the state who is privy to intelligence reports and the veracity of this allegation cannot be contested,” NPP legislator James P.K. Sangma said.

If these statements are being based on irrefutable and reliable intelligence reports and if the chief minister is genuinely concerned about such links, James said Mukul Sangma should immediately ask for an NIA probe to investigate into the matter so that appropriate action can be taken.

“As the matter is of such a grave nature involving national security, the NPP feels that the state security agencies are not adequately equipped and therefore cannot deal with it,” he added.
