It was a battle of brains as students of various cradles took part in Horlicks Wizkids, an inter-school quiz contest held in Jamshedpur on Thursday.
A high-profile inter-school event, the 12th edition of Horlicks Wizkids saw the participation of over 4,000 students from 46 schools at Tata Auditorium.
Those who qualified would represent Jamshedpur in a national competition. The national winners would then compete at South Asia finals to be held in November.
About 40 students from 35 schools took the preliminary round for Wizkids. Students then had to go through five gruelling rounds comprising personal interviews, introductions, talent rounds, versatility rounds and a question round.
“For the last 11 years, Horlicks Wizkids has been one of the most sought-after platforms that has been bringing students from various schools, across different geographies, under one roof. This is a specially designed programme for children that focuses on overall development,” said Jayant Singh, EVP, Marketing, Glaxo SmithKline Consumer Healthcare India.
The South Asia finals will see school students from India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka compete with each other. The winners of the South Asia finals would earn scholarships worth Rs 1 lakh and a five-day educational trip to Spain.
Hundreds of school children also took part in other competitions that were organised simultaneously on Thursday.
These were in music, mehendi art, painting, group dance, cooking, photography and essay writing.
In the end, teachers of various schools took part in a fashion and dance show which mesmerised the audience of school children.
