Kothari is positive

Calcutta: Sourav Kothari is confident of India’s chances in the World Billiards team championships in Glasgow, starting from August 11. Sourav leaves on Thursday and will participate in the Glasgow Open, a warm-up meet that precedes the world championship.

Sourav, the national and Asian billiards champion, will be leading one of the Indian teams. Alok Kumar, B. Bhaskar and Dhruv Sitwala are the other players. The second team comprises Rupesh Shah, Pankaj Advani, Ashok Shandilya and Devendra Joshi.

“This is the first team championship in billiards… England, Scotland and Ireland are also strong… If Australia participate, they also can alter equations,” said Sourav at the Calcutta Sports Journalists’ Club on Wednesday.

“The preparation has been good… The Asian title has been a big achievement and I’m confident. Alok is also in good form having made the final of the Asian championships… All are accomplished players and we are positive about India’s chances.”

Manoj, Sourav’s father and the coach of the Indian teams, was also optimistic.
