Athletic Brothers penalised

Imphal, Aug. 5: The Imphal East District Football Association has suspended two Athletic Brothers Association players, Azmir Chisty and Sheikh Sabir, and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each for assaulting national referee Ph. Lanthoiba Singh during a super division match last Sunday.

A fine of Rs 5,000 each was imposed on coach Abdul Rehman, manager Abdul Sattar, team official Abdul Hassim and physio Abdul Malik. Abdul Kalam Sheikh, the general secretary of ABA, was given a yearlong ban for his derogatory remarks.

The council awarded a 3-0 goal win to YOSC, in its match against ABA.

Eagle Trophy: Defending champions Indo-Tibetan Border Police began their Eagle Trophy campaign with a 2-1 win against Gangte Togung SC at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Naharlagun today, reports Ranju Dodum from Itanagar.

In another match, Bamang Taji FC defeated Todo United by 2-0 goals.
