Salt Lake ‘rape’

Calcutta, Aug. 5: A businessman was arrested from his home in Salt Lake today on the charge of repeatedly raping his domestic help who is a minor.

The 34-year-old businessman has been identified as Samrat Roychowdhury, a resident of BA block, police said.

According to the complaint, the girl was raped regularly for four months and was forced to keep quiet. It was not clear who else lived in the house besides the businessman.

The girl had escaped from the house and reached her hometown Gosaba in South 24-Parganas where she had lodged the complaint.

Neither the businessman’s family nor his lawyer could be contacted for comment.
