Probe into Ďassaultí

Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday gave the Aurangabad district magistrate 24 hours to file a report on a police officerís alleged misbehaviour with Independent MLA from Dehri-on-Sone Jyoti Rashmi.

On July 30, a truck had run over 12 kanwariyas following which Jyoti went to the spot along with husband Pradeep Joshi, a former MLA, and supporters and blocked the road. Every year, Pradeep organises free trips to Deogarh for kanwariyas.

Jyoti and Pradeep had an altercation with Aurangabad superintendent of police (SP) Upendra Sharma. On Friday, Jyoti demanded the SPís removal from the post, accused him of abusing and beating up the couple.

Though Manjhi sought the report and convinced Jyoti of appropriate action, she had to resort to a lot of histrionics in the Assembly. It was also alleged that Jyoti had tried to hit the SP with her slippers.
