Oil India storm into final


Dibrugarh, July 31: Oil India FC, Duliajan, routed FC Zalen, Manipur, by 5-0 goals to storm into the final of the sixth Bodousa Cup Football tournament organised by Bodousa Sports Club at Kachujan in Tinsukia district.

In the first semi-final today, Oil India enjoyed the upper hand throughout even as the Manipur side tried hard but failed to penetrate the opposition defence.

Midfielder Zaidin Hmar opened the account for Oil after capitalising on a calculated pass from Mintu Boro in the tenth minute. Striker Manash Manjit Chetia made it 2-0 in the 19th minute off another pass from Boro.

No further damage was inflicted on Zalen in the next phase of play till the end of the first half even as Oil raised the momentum and threatened to score from time to time.

In the 66th minute, Oil came up with their third goal with Zaidin coming to the party again.

Left-winger F. Wary made it 4-0 in the 72nd minute, while in the 90th minute, it was medio Geremsa Basumatary’s turn to add to the Oil tally. Selected: The All Manipur Football Association has selected five girls to attend the India uner-16 girls coaching camp ahead of the AFC under-16 qualifying round.
