Rebel leader in net

Ranchi, July 29: Latehar police arrested a zonal commander of the Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) from Ramgarh this morning, even as security forces stepped up vigil in rebel-hit areas across the state in view of the Maoists’ martyrs’ week that began yesterday.

Anshu Yadav, alias Birendra, was picked up from a rented house in Ramgarh town and was taken to Latehar for interrogations.

Sources said Yadav, who was wanted in over 20 cases of murder, extortion and kidnapping, gave in without offering any resistance.

Latehar SP Michael Raj said the police received intelligence inputs on the movement of Yadav yesterday. “After verifying the available information, we formed a special team to catch him live,” he said.
