Lajong coach banking on team effort

Calcutta: Any sensible coach would want his team to be strong on all departments.

Lajong FC coach Thangboi Singto, too, believes that having a proper balance would help his team make further improvement and produce even better results.

Speaking to the I-League official website, Singto said: “Good teams must be strong in all departments. Also, a good bench strength is a much-needed aspect for success.”

“Team effort is very important too,” he said. Singto believes the current crop of players will make Lajong stronger this season. “We have signed players who we really felt could give us more strength and depth in the team.

“In Aiborlang Khongjee, we have a player who recently made his debut with the national team as a centre-back. He will give us more security and better quality in defence.

“In Seiminlen Doungel (presently with the Indian squad in preparation for the upcoming Asian Games), we have a talented youngster who provides us with more attacking options up front. Also TP Rehenesh as goalkeeper and David Ngaihte on the flank strengthens our team further.

“They will help us achieve higher goals in the I-League,” Singto explained.

Elaborating on Lajong’s pre-season training, Singto said: “Our preparations started last Monday and have been really smooth so far. All the players are working hard and really enjoying training after the break.”
