Calcutta, July 26: United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has decided to make Calcutta the headquarter of its India programme.

Along with International Business Facilitators it is setting up a global centre of excellence in the city to offer business development services.

Bengal has offered to host a global entrepreneur meet to be organised by UNCTAD in December. “We will be glad to host the meet in the city,” finance minister Amit Mitra said. The meet will be attended by representatives from 75 countries across the world, Mitra said at the concluding session of UNCTAD’s Entrepreneurship Training Workshop programme here today.
