Teacher in MMS scandal

Hazaribagh, July 25: An FIR was lodged on Friday against a coaching institute teacher in Hazaribagh who made a smut MMS of his student three years ago and uploaded the same on various websites.

While 27-year-old Kumud Kumar is on the run, his victim — now 25 and a mother of two — has been driven out of home by her husband after one of his relatives in Delhi discovered the scandal on Thursday.

The incident purportedly took place in Jharpo village under Tatijharia block, 30km from town, in 2011 when the girl was a matriculation aspirant and had enrolled at the local KM Coaching Institute run by Kumud who taught science subjects.

During the course of her studies, the girl fell in love with her teacher and the latter took advantage of her naivety. Without her knowledge, he made a 29-minute video of them in compromising position and uploaded the same a few months ago apparently to seek revenge because she had been married off to another man.

On Thursday, a close relative of the victim’s husband in Delhi chanced upon the video. He identified both the girl and Kumud, who he knew, in the MMS. As the news reached Hazaribagh, the mother of two was accused of immoral conduct and sent to her parents’ home in Jharpo the same evening.

Although village elders intervened and her in-laws’ were even offered money, they refused to take her back. Seeing no way out, the woman’s family lodged an FIR against Kumud at Ichak police station.

SP Manoj Kaushik said the coaching institute teacher was absconding. “He will be arrested soon,” he added.
