FCI edge past Trinayanjyoti

Bodousa cup

Dibrugarh, July 24: Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sports Club, Guwahati, today got the better of Trinayanjyoti Sangha, Chabua, by a solitary goal in a group league match of the 6th Bodousa Cup football tournament, organised by Bodousa Sports Club, at Jalan Outdoor Stadium here.

Midfielder Lokesh Singh of FCI netted the all-important goal in the 34th minute.

Trinanayan Jyoti Sangha squandered several opportunities to equalise.

Both teams toiled hard in the second half but failed to score.

The winners came close to scoring another goal in the 89th minute when John Hsghate’s freekick was brilliantly saved by the Chabua side’s goalkeeper Bitul Khanikar.

In another match at Tinsukia, Dynamo Club, Guwahati beat hosts Bodousa Football Club, Tinsukia, by 5-2 goals.

Three players from GTC Chess Foundation here — Bhabishnu Pranti Bordoloi, Bhuvnesh Dixit and Aryan Dutta — are representing Assam in the National Under-11 Chess Championship that got under way at Puri in Odisha today.
