CM foreign trip

Calcutta, July 22: Mamata Banerjee is likely to visit Singapore between August 17 and 20 following an invitation from the Singapore foreign minister K. Shanmugam.

The Singapore foreign minister met the chief minister at Nabanna on July 11 along with Changi Airports International chairman Kee Teck Koon. Sources in the chief minister’s office said the tour plan was yet to be finalised but it had been decided that she could visit Singapore during this period. “The chief minister is keen to visit the place to woo investors…. She might take a team of officials and business delegates with her but nothing has been finalised,” said a source.

On July 11, on the sidelines of a news conference with Changi Airports International and Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Ltd, finance minister Amit Mitra had said Mamata was “actively considering” going to Singapore on her first foreign trip.
