BJP seeks DGP’s removal

Shillong, July 19: The BJP’s Meghalaya unit, today demanded the removal of state director-general of police Peter James Pyngrope Hanaman over the law and order situation in the Garo hills region.

According to BJP general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty, some of the state party leaders are currently camping in New Delhi, and would be raising the law and order issue and the Garo hills situation with the Union ministry of home affairs.

“The state government has totally failed to control the law and order situation in the Garo hills region. Common people are living in the region with great anxiety. Kidnapping and extortion has become daily news. We are very unhappy with the style of functioning of the DGP and demand for his immediate removal,” Chakraborty said.
