Chennai: Shivlal Yadav, interim president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), hailed the Board’s effectively-suspended president Narayanswamy Srinivasan for his elevation to the International Cricket Council (ICC) as its chairman.
Not only that, Shivlal, a former Test spinner, also hoped that Srinivasan would again take BCCI’s charge from him.
Talking at a function organised by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), Shivlal said: “I pray to God that all the bad period, which we are only reading about in the media, will be over as soon as possible and you (Srinivasan) will take over from me.”
“Today, the cricketing fraternity is grateful to Mr Srinivasan as no former president of the BCCI had the guts or willingness to look after them, paying a one-time benefit… He has done that for both Test and Ranji Trophy cricketers,” Shivlal said.
“Many presidents have come and gone… Many cricketers have suffered... Particularly the Ranji Trophy players have struggled to get pittance. But today, they are leading good lives because of Srinivasan’s guidance and benevolence,” Shivlal said.
