Calcutta: Mike Horn, iconic adventurer and motivational guru, has added another feather to his already envied cap.
Indeed, Horn has now helped two countries — India and Germany — win World Cups in different disciplines.
Horn, who’d spent some days with Joachim Loew and the Philipp Lahms just before the start of Germany’s World Cup campaign, returned to their camp in Brazil, in the days leading up to Sunday’s final.
Germany beat Argentina to take home sport’s most prized trophy after 24 years.
That Horn could again have sessions with the Lahms was exclusively reported in these columns on June 18.
Back in 2011, Horn had done his bit to help India regain cricket’s World Cup after 28 years.
Horn spent time with the Mahendra Singh Dhonis both before the World Cup began and prior to the final, against Sri Lanka.
Then, last month, Horn had a role in the Kolkata Knight Riders winning back the IPL.
“Credit must always be given to the players, whether they be cricketers or footballers. We only help them prepare,” Horn, who is working on his next expedition, told The Telegraph on Tuesday.
Not wanting to take any credit is typical of the man.
