Brasilia: Dirk Kuyt is convinced that Louis van Gaal will be a resounding success at Manchester United.
The 62-year-old will assume his position as United boss next week after the Netherlands finish their World Cup campaign with Saturday’s playoff match against Brazil.
Barring the semi-final defeat, the Netherlands have been pretty impressive throughout the tournament. Manchester United’s new manager also achieved a spectacular 5-1 win over 2010 champions Spain in the group stage, so things are looking good for United when Van Gaal takes charge.
“There was only one thing for this coach. He just wanted to win this Cup,” Kuyt said. “That is the type of coach he is… He just wants to win things.
“He is desperate to be successful and I am sure he is going to be successful in his next job.”
Importantly, in the dressing room as well, Van Gaal has brought in harmony. “The team spirit is amazing,” Kuyt said.
“The coach was leading us and the 23 players were really important. Almost everyone played a part.” (agencies)
