Auto driver thrashed

Two criminals thrashed a 30-year-old auto-rickshaw driver and decamped with his cash and mobile phone set in Birsanagar in the small hours of Friday, though police managed to nab one of them in the afternoon.

Chhotka Mardi was returning home at the zone no. 3 on foot after parking the auto in its owner’s house around 2am.

He was negotiating a lonely, dark stretch when two criminals intercepted him and tried to snatch his mobile phone and purse. When Chhotka resisted, they duo beat him up and ran away with the booty.

The victim remained in a pool of blood till a patrolling party rescued him and took him to MGM Medical College and Hospital.

Birsanagar OC Birsingh Munda said the arrested criminal had been identified as Vishal Hembrom.

In a separate incident, police foiled a burglary attempt at Bank of India’s Susni branch in Bodam by arresting three criminals on Thursday evening. Also, the police recovered a loaded pistol from their possession.

DSP, Mango, Amit Kumar Singh said the same gang hand tried to break into the same bank a month ago, but failed.
