Trader murdered

Chinsurah, June 24: A land broker accused in a 2012 murder case was shot 11 times by a gang in a Hooghly market this morning, killing him in the stall where he was sipping tea. Sukanta Majumdar, 30, was out on bail in the murder of another land broker. His mother has named a co-accused in the case in connection with Sukanta’s murder.

Calcutta: Over 27,000 lawyers across the state observed a strike on Tuesday to protest the attack on advocate Rabindranath Bhattacharyya who was shot at in Barrackpore on June 18.
