Indian youngsters are fearless, says Raina

Calcutta: With India resting most of the seniors for the three-ODI series against Bangladesh, it provided a wonderful opportunity for the youngsters to make an impact. The young players didn’t disappoint as India won the series 2-0 after the last match was being abandoned on Thursday.

Captain Suresh Raina was pleased with the performance of the young side. At the presentation ceremony, he hailed the youngsters as fearless.

Suresh Raina: I am very happy with the side’s performance in the series… Players like Stuart Binny and Mohit Sharma have been brilliant. These youngsters are fearless. Binny bowled really well alongside Mohit Sharma and Umesh Yadav.

This is a young side and the players know that if they perform well in the next few months, they can get selected for the World Cup. So there was no lack of motivation today.

Mushfiqur Rahim: I think our bowlers have done a marvellous job in this series. However, in the last match, our batsmen failed to perform. Today was a good opportunity to win the match. Unfortunately, the rain forced the match to be abandoned… It could have been a different ball game had we completed the match.

Stuart Binny: I’m really happy with my performance in the series. It’s been a good series for me. I must thank the team management and Suresh for giving me this opportunity… I needed to make use of the chances I got and I’m glad that I’ve done well. We were a young side and we needed to make a mark. I’m happy that we could prove a point.
