Subroto CUp

Imphal, June 19: Development High School moved into the semi-final beating Kids High School by 3-0 goals in the Imphal East District-Level Under-14 Boys Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament, 2014 played at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

The wet outfield failed to dampen the spirits of the Development High School team as it managed to overun the defence of the opponent at will. H. Kiran struck two goals in the 10th and 46th minutes while P. Samson netted the other goal in the 23rd minute en route to the semi-final.

In another quarter-final match, Eastern Ideal High School got the better of Kiyamgei High School by 2-1 goals from a penalty shot, after regulation time failed to produce any goals. L. Chaoba Singh and Kh. Sanjit Singh managed to beat the Eastern team keeper. W. Sanathoi proved to be the lone scorer for Kiyamgei.

Lamlai High School registered a solitary goal win over Moirangpurel High School to book their semi- final berth as well. N. John Singh provided the lone winning goal in the 14th minute for the victory.

In the last quarter final of the day, North Eastern English School, Khabeisoi drubbed Yourbung High School by 3-1 goals to enter the semi-final. Both teams had a hard time controlling the ball due to the muddy outfield.

Md Nasir netted the opening goal for North Eastern in the 10th minute but Th. Jerry fetched the equaliser in the 15th minute for Yourbung to level scores 1-1. However, North Eastern increased the lead through Kagaly in the 20th minute to post a 2-1 goal lead in the first half. Later, Kagaly came up with the winning goal in the 38th minute for the victory.
