Imphal humble Silchar with 24 goal margin

Imphal, June 18: Imphal Range smashed Silchar Range by 30-6 to move to the semi-finals of the third Inter-Range Ops Handball Tournament organised by GC, CRPF, Imphal at Langjing.

The opening match saw Ibomcha Singh leading the charge, scoring eight goals while H. Premananda, K.K. Singh, S. Somorjit scored three goals each, Sushil Daimary, Ksh. Jayenta, B.K. Das struck two goals each and Nupajao, Tiken and V.K. Chakrabati fetched a goal each. For Silchar Range, Pravin Kumar Singh scored three goals while Sanjib fetched two goals and Dhyremendra got a goal.

In the other matches, Khatkati Range beat Agartala Range by 14-12 goals while Dibrugarh Range beat Kohima Range by 19-3 goals and Guwahati Range beat Bagaigao Range by 10-7 goals.

With the result, Imphal Range will meet Dibrugarh Range while Khatkati Range will take on Guwahati Range in the semi-finals.

Thang Ta: Manipur bagged the overall team championís title bagging 121 medals including 82 gold in the third Thang Ta Federation Cup, 2014 held in Maharastra.

Referee test: The Assam Football Association will organise its annual physical fitness test for the active referees under it at Newfield here from 6.30am on July 22. It is mandatory for the state-level as well as national-level referees to attend the test.
