Tarapur beat India Cub

Hailakandi, June 13: Tarapur AC got the better of India Club 2-1 in a match of the Ramanuj Gupta District Sports Association, Silchar Super Division football league at Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium in Silchar today.

India Club took the lead in the 17th minute through a penalty conversion by Menmanjir Halam. The kick was awarded for Tarapur’s Vanlalghata’s dangerous tackle of India Club’s Thanil Singha.

Tarapur equalised in the 42nd minute by making no mistake in converting a penalty kick by Lalremliana. India Club custodian Pappu Chakraborty’s action with Tarapur’s Sudhangshu Teli led to the spot kick.

The second goal for Tarapur also came through a penalty shot conversion by Apollo Rongmei. The league matches will not be played from June 21 to 23 due to the referees’ fitness test in Guwahati on June 22.

PHE RC were awarded full three points against Tarun Sangha in a meeting of the organisers. Earlier, the match was deferred following a letter from Tarun Sangha that they would not be able to play because of registration problem of players.
