Small steps to save greens

School beat

Students learn to care for the environment with a spring in their steps, literally. While some of the young ones planted saplings, a few others took dancing lessons from professionals. Smita Kumar reports

Event: World Environment Day

Special attraction: On the occasion of World Environment Day, a sapling plantation programme was organised. Students, along with the teachers, took part with much enthusiasm. The young ones planted varieties of plants and took an oath to nurture and protect those. Some of the students planted the saplings in the garden of the school compound. An “art from waste” competition was organised as well in the activity room.

Event: Rock-n-roll workshop

Duration: Ten days

Special attraction: Siddhesh Pai of the reality TV show, Dance India Dance, has been training the students. The young ones are being taught contemporary, lyrical hip-hop, Bollywood and other dance forms. The youngsters were very excited on learning the different forms. Schoolchildren from various institutes across the city have been learning the art and the origins of the different movements.
