Building order

A division bench of the high court on Wednesday directed the Calcutta Municipal Corporation to file an affidavit stating whether it had allowed any individual or association to construct a building in one of the parks in the Phoolbagan-Kankurgachhi area.

If the civic body has allowed any such construction, it would have to tell the court how the building plan had been sanctioned.

The division bench of Chief Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Joymalya Bagchi passed the order on a public interest litigation by lawyer S.K. Mitra.

The petitioner submitted that the “unauthorised construction” was coming up with support from local Trinamul leaders.
