Assam rowers bag six medals

Guwahati, June 8: Assam missed out on gold but bagged four silver and two bronze medals in the 17th Sub-junior National and 18th Challenger Sprint National Rowing championships that concluded in Calcutta yesterday.

After a dream run in the weeklong meet, Ridhwaan Azeem had to remain content with a silver in the sub-junior boys’ single scull category. Prerna Basnet settled for second place in the sub-junior girls’ single scull final.

In the Challenger men’s single scull category, Haladhar Choudhury faltered in the end to settle for bronze.

The duo of Akashdeep Rajkhowa and Manabjyoti Dutta were impressive as they battled till the very end for a second place in the sub-junior boys’ double scull final.

In the under-13 girls’ category, the duo of Jyestha Dipak and Hanshita Sarmah gave a display of strength and agility, bagging silver in the double scull final.
