KV, South Point win


Guwahati, June 6: Kendriya Vidyalaya, Maligaon, and South Point School stormed into the final of the 10th Dhan Sena Sinha All-Assam Inter-School Prize-Money Cricket Tournament at Latasil playground here today.

In the first semi-final, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Maligaon, thrashed Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT by eight wickets. Electing to bat, KV IIT were bowled out for 106 in 19.4 overs. Samir Sarma remained unbeaten on 23 while Aman Chetri chipped in with 17 runs. For KV Maligaon, Abhirup Bhattacharya picked up three wickets while Dhiraj Kumar Choudhury scalped two.

In reply, KV Maligaon got past the target losing two wickets in 16.5 overs.

Amit Kumar Yadav scored 45 runs while Dhiraj Choudhury chipped in with a run-a-ball 23. Akash Borah and Samir Sarma picked up a wicket each. Amit was named Man of the Match.

In the second semi-final, South Point posted a 22-run victory against Sonapur Chamata High School.

Electing to bat, South Point put up 117 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

Subham Dutta scored 20 while Dhruvraj Borah remained not out on 12.

In reply, Sonapur Chamata could score 95 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.

District football: The Dhubri district football league will commence at P.C. Barua Maidan in the last week of June.
