Jewellery, cash stolen

Thieves broke into the house of one Shashi Shakher, a businessman, in the small hours of Thursday and decamped with cash and jewellery worth around Rs 9 lakh.

The incident occurred at the Professors’ Colony under the jurisdiction of Patrakar Nagar police station area.

The police said the family was in deep sleep and couldn’t realise that the men were inside. The criminals fled with cash worth Rs 1.73 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 8 lakh.

Investigations have started in the case and the men in uniform are trying to ascertain how many people had entered the house.

All the police stations in the city have been put on high alert.
